IRS Gives Timeline for 2019 Form W-4, Requests Comments. During the IRS's July 5 payroll industry call, the IRS said it expects to release a second draft of the Form W-4 in mid-August and a final version in November. 

SSA to Resume Sending 'No Match' Notices. The Social Security Administration (SSA) said it will resume sending its Educational Correspondence (EDCOR) notices (also called Employer Correction Request Notices) to employers that file Forms W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, containing name and social security number mismatches. 

DOL Updates Potential FUTA Credit Reduction State and Territory for 2018. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) updated its list of potential FUTA credit reduction states for 2018. The Virgin Islands might be the only state/territory subject to a FUTA credit reduction for 2018. 

SSA Outlines BSO Upgrades, Announces Scheduled Updates for 2019. On the July 5 IRS payroll industry call, the SSA provided an overview of changes made to Business Services Online (BSO) for the 2019 filing season and outlined more changes it would like to make.
